Environmental Education

Environmental education is a process that allows individuals to explore environmental issues, engage in problem solving, and take action to improve the environment. As a result, individuals develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and have the skills to make better informed and more responsible decisions.

The components of environmental education are:

  • Awareness and sensitivity to the environment and environmental challenges
  • Knowledge and understanding of the environment and environmental challenges
  • Attitudes of concern for the environment and motivation to improve or maintain environmental quality
  • Skills to identify and help resolve relevant and pertinent environmental challenges
  • Participation in activities that lead to the resolution of environmental challenges.

Environmental Education is a cornerstone to the long term success of conservation. PAMS Foundation has developed and promotes an environmental education syllabus called Living in Harmony with Nature, which is taught at secondary schools. PAMS also hosts sports days with an environmental theme and arrange trips to National Parks for school kids and members of local communities.

PAMS partners with other groups to develop environmental education books about iconic animal species with a strong conservation message.  By showing children we care about them and their natural heritage that is critical for their future, we develop friendships, trust and nurture future wildlife protectors.
