Education – We believe that community, education and support is essential to conserving wildlife and natural landscapes. An environmental education syllabus called ‘Living in Harmony with Nature’ has been developed and is being taught at various schools near conservation areas.
Crop & Livestock Protection – During the growing season, animals such as elephant often raid the crop fields of local farmers. Similarly, predators such as lion kill cattle and other livestock. The results from this human-wildlife conflict includes a loss food and in income to local farmers and livestock keepers, loss of wildlife which are killed in retaliation and sometimes also the loss of human life. Poachers also exploit this situation to kill more elephants or other wildlife species at times, under the guise of them being ‘problem animals’. The situation thus needs to be managed carefully. PAMS Foundation thus works with local authorities and communities to help protect their crops and livestock, through various mitigation measures which benefit humans and save the lives of domestic and wild animals.
